This topic remains very widely discussed due to the significant impact of the position in which we work on the general state of health and well-being every day. The performance of individual employees and the quality of performing the tasks assigned to them depend on their state of health and well-being.

Therefore, it is so important to minimize the occurrence of problems associated with prolonged standing and sitting every day.

Dangers of standing long

First, we will introduce the dangers of long-standing standing. When standing, we engage your cardiovascular system for unusual work.

His task is primarily to regulate blood flow in the blood vessels of the whole body. Standing, we increase the pressure on the walls of venous vessels several times, which certainly will not remain indifferent to the state of our health.

Calf muscles involved in posture are necessary for the proper functioning of the venous pump. In addition, the human foot has an extensive network of small-sized blood vessels.

Veins, located in the lower limbs, have additional equipment in the form of valves, supporting blood flow inverse to the direction of gravity. Their task is primarily to secure the moment when deoxygenated blood is pushed towards the heart.

During this time they are closed, which guarantees the inability to go back.

During activities, including walking, the muscles of the foot and calf shrink during each step, which significantly improves the processes of pumping blood in the right direction.

Long-term standing, causes blockage and tension of the calf and ankle joints. In this situation, to guarantee comfort, we move the body weight from time to time, which releases muscle energy, and its consequence is fatigue. If we regularly stay in this position, our soft tissues gradually reduce their elasticity. It is not difficult, therefore, for rheumatic diseases and diseases that bring chronic pain.

Research scientists - how is it shaped?

According to a study by world-class American scientists, venous pressure for employees with sedentary work was 56 mm, while for standing people it is 87 mm. If we decide to go 10 steps, this value will drop to 21 mm.

 

The experiment pays special attention to how breaks, which do not last longer than five minutes, for so-called "bone stretching" after each 15-minute standing period help to increase comfort in the event of the necessity to carry out the duty.

 

The situation is dangerous if we also consider problems related to leading a sedentary lifestyle. The long seat is the bane of the twenty-first century. Sitting increases the risk of developing serious diseases, including civilization-related diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Sitting for a long time, we slow down metabolism, weaken the processes aimed at regulating the level of sugar in the body. In addition, prolonged sitting position adversely affects blood pressure and reduces the percentage of fat burned during activity. Problems also apply to people who engage in physical activity in their free time.

In recent years, a group of people occupying positions related to sedentary work have complained, among others, about the appearance of abdominal obesity, which results in fatness of external organs and impediment to their proper functioning.

Continued health consequences

Unfortunately, this is not the end of health consequences that are closely related to prolonged sitting.

The current lifestyle model causes weakness of bones and joints, has a negative effect on the composition of our muscles, as well as the efficiency of the neck and back.

As a result, joint pains are increasingly bothering us, and the outflow of blood remains hampered by increased mutual pressure on each individual vertebrae.

Psychologists also alarm about the impact of hours of sitting in the sitting on mental health and well-being, and even the possibility of increasing the risk of depression by a sedentary lifestyle.

How can we minimize the adverse effects associated with prolonged standing or sitting?

We recommend that you devote every free moment to getting up and take a short walk, at least once every 30 minutes of standing or sitting work. If we have this option,
